Kentucky Hot Brown

Submitted by: Kristie Vaughn

If you're a southern belle or gentleman at heart you have to try this one! Hot turkey over hot toast and smothered in a buttery sauce. There are two things Kentucky does right--horse racing and the hot brown. This is also great for Thanksgiving leftovers!

If your not frying your green tomatoes in bacon grease then you have lost half of the great flavor! No self respecting southerner fries their green tomatoes in anything but bacon grease!

Yummy fried potatoes with the flavor of Kentucky, easy to make camping or at home, Leftovers store great in the fridge for a microwave breakfast on the go. For an East coast twist, add diced green pepper.

This chicken is perfect for an outdoor summer meal, and my family thinks it's fantastic. It takes about an hour on the grill but is worth the wait. I use a new paintbrush to 'mop' on the basting sauce. -Jill Evely, Wilmore, Kentucky

Every Irish household has their own version of this famous dish-so here's mine. I like to add chunky pieces of parsnip for a little sweetness, and fresh rosemary gives it a distinct flavour and aroma. If you use a tougher cut of meat, you can leave it to simmer longer before adding the potatoes. Fantastic on a cold, blustery day-served with a pint of the black stuff, of course!

Simply walnut! I use half butter and half shortening for better flavor. Frost with a buttercream frosting.

Kentucky Bourbon Sweet Potatoes

Submitted by: Mozelle Lanclos
You'll be tempted to serve sweet potatoes for breakfast, lunch and dinner. These are pretty special. Sliced potatoes are doused with sugar, bourbon, vanilla and butter and then baked until the sauce is absorbed and the sweet potatoes crusty and brown.

This is a great recipe, different that the usual biscuit. Serve piping hot with butter, jam, or honey.
