These were tasty. Good flavor, but mine didnt rise as much as I thought they would. I did use half whole wheat flour so maybe thats what did it. I had these with the "chocolate gravy II" from this site. Sooo tasty! I also used these to make the "teddy bear biscuits" from here for my boys.

Yum! I love these! They kind of have that same goodness as pie crust. Perfect with everything.

Tasted very strongly of baking powder and took a full ten minutes longer to bake than the recipe called for. Even cutting the kneading time substantially, they still came out tough as well.

Quite a good biscuit. A bit bland on its own, but pretty good with honey.

I love this recipe- it is really the only biscuit recipe I use anymore. DO NOT KNEAD FOR TWO MINUTES- I actually knead them in the bowl until the dough holds together. Then I press into a square pan and cut with a knife into the desired size. These are really great, plain, simple biscuits-- great with anything... we're having them with sausage gravy tonight!

This was a great recipe. Tender on the inside and crispy on the outside. I didn't change a thing except I didn't mix it as long.

Absolutely wonderful biscuits! Used the grated butter trick, worked like a charm! Other than that I followed the recipe exactly!

These were delicious! I did follow the tip from other reviewers suggesting to grate the cold butter with a box grater into the dry ingredients. I drizzled honey on the top and they were well received by adults and children.

Oh how I love these biscuits! It is perfect as is. Some other cooks have suggested to double or increase the amount of butter but I noticed that when I do that the dough does not rise as much and is just too buttery. The only suggestion I have is to freeze the butter and then shred it to help cut it with the dry ingredients. A great recipe, thanks for sharing!

This is our #1 biscuit recipe. Flaky and delicious!!!! These don't have an over-powering baking powder/soda taste at all! John 3:16

I didn't have buttermilk, so maybe that's why I didn't like it very much.

I really liked this recipe, it works really well for biscuits and sausage gravy. I did separate my biscuits the second time I made it, and it didn't seem to really make any difference.

I can't say these our my favorite. I'm going to keep looking for a biscuit recipe. They weren't bad. A little dense and I recommend making these big. Give them a try others love this and they are easy.

These are great biscuits. Very plain in flavor so they go wonderfully with butter or jams/jellies. I took the advice of one of the reviewers and kneaded much less and also rolled out into a rectangle and cut pieces rather than using a biscuit cutter. Every one came out fantastic. If you need a good basic biscuit recipe, this is a great choice.

So..... I totally botched this recipe while making it. I was short by a 1/4c flour so I added some rye flour I had on hand. Figured it was a very small amount and wouldn't make much difference. When I added the buttermilk to the dry mixture it was not the right consistency. You couldnt knead it, you could stir it. Since I was out of flour, I used bisquick to thicken and knead it. You see what I mean I botched the recipe!? Ok...so after all my attempts to ruin this biscuit (not on purpose), IT WAS AWESOME. I pulled it out of the oven and thought it was headed for the trash. Decided I would take one bite because I was wasting so many ingredients. They were so moist on the inside with just a tiny crust on the outside. I cant wait to try it again and do it correctly! :)

These are so easy and sooooo good. I am a big fan of crispy food, so the outside of these biscuits is exactly what I wanted. I'm sure I could eat the entire outside myself! I can't wait to try them with some variations - parmesan, herb, even adding some grated lemon ring would be good. Thanks so much for the great recipe.

I've tried several biscuit recipes on this site and each has been OK but this one BEATS any others hands down. First this was so much easier than rolling cutting and rerolling and cutting to form biscuits a lot of work for me. Now easier is great but only if the food taste good, well these were delicouis. They were light brown and slightly crunchy outsight and fluffy soft inside with a buttery taste. I needed to bake them longer than written but that of course has more to do with oven variations. Honestly I won't be looking any further for our perfect quick dinner biscuit recipe. Thanks for the recipe!
