pretty darn heavy bagels, I was hoping they would be a bit lighter. I may make them again. I sprinkled parmesean cheese on half of the bagels and then mixed cinnamon sugar and raisens in the other half. The kids loved them, but I felt they were too dense.

Made this recipe exactly, but with only 6 bagels. I thought they were a bit too big, so next time I make them, I'll make the 9 and see how that turns out. Tasted great though! EDIT: made with the 9, came out kind of odd looking. Still tasted great, but I'd rather make 6 and have them all big and round!

I don't own a bread machine so i worked the dough with my hands. Let the dough rise for an hour after kneading, and another hour after forming the bagels. Sprinkled with onion flakes. Thanks for the recipe!

EXCELLENT! I used my stand mixer, let the dough rise, punched down and rise again, then followed the recipe exactly. These are wonderfulm, and i can't wait to experiment and add cheese and other flavoring to other batches.

This is a truly great recipe. I made these today with my kids and it was a fun project for us. I had never made bagels before and was unsure if they would be good the first time around. They were awesome! We used 1 1/8 cups of water, and we also brushed them with olive oil instead of egg. Our toppings were all different. We used lawry's seasoning salt, cavendars seasoning, and one with rosemary, sea salt and pepper that was our favorite! We had so much fun we hope to make this a weekend activity. I don't think we could buy a bag of store bought bagels again!

Good recipe. Let rice after forming until nice and plump, then boil and bake.

These bagels were fairly easy to make, if you have alot of time. I added some gluten to make them more chewy. They tasted like Sara Lee Bagels. But I agree with another review on making bagels, I think I'll stick to buying them at the market.

No bread machine needed. Very good bagels. Made some plain and onion bagels and it made the house smell so good.

These were very good bagels. I've made these twice so far, and the only change I have made is to add an extra 1/8 cup water at the beginning because otherwise my bread machine really struggles with the dough. Oh, and I also gave myself a really bad steam burn turning the bagels in the boiling water the first time so watch out!

Wonderful! I did let the dough sit for just a bit before shaping, but other than that, no changes. Perfect. Thank you so much for a great recipe.

Followed recipe exactly except it was easier to divide dough into 8 portions instead of 9. I did find that the bagels were more chewy than I like. Next time, I will let the bagels rise up longer next time and also follow another reader's advice to only boil the dough for about 10 seconds or so and not 1 minute.

WOW!!!! I am now impressed with these bagels! Last week I made them following previous reviewer's suggestion to substitute WW flour and extra water. Well, they tasted good, but were very moist and dense. Today I made them by the original recipe, except: I let the dough rise/rest ~ 25 min before forming the bagels; I let them rise 20 min once formed into bagels; I made a dozen mini bagels, which is what we prefer. I may even make another batch to take to the beach next week!

I have never made bagels before but found this recipe easy to follow and they turned out great. My family was impressed and asked if I would make more.

I wanted more bagels so I increased the servings to 12 since my bread machine can handle 4 cups of flour. It worked great! After coating with the egg we topped them with cinnamon-sugar, garlic salt & onion flakes, sesame seeds, extra sharp grated cheddar cheese. Every one of the combos was popular and worked well. Note: I let them rise longer than the recipe states before boiling them.
