Davis, California

Davis is a university town that is quite well known for being "green". You will find ethnic foods of every variety here. Everywhere you look it's all about organic, fresh, and local. There is a large co-op as well as several farms that sell directly to the public. At a few of the farms you can even pick the produce yourself. It doesn't get fresher than that!

Easy Sausage Strata

Reviewed on Aug. 26, 2008 by Samantha Li
Easy, hearty, and delicious! A great way to use up stale bread. I added about half a yellow onion, diced, to the skillet and cooked with a pinch of salt until soft and translucent before browning the sausage. The onion was a great addition.

Peanut Butter and Banana Dog Biscuits

Reviewed on Aug. 20, 2008 by Nick Strand
If I had a dog I assume he/she would like them. They are a pretty healthy snack so I actually made them for myself! Clearly they're a bit dry but not too shabby when dunked in coffee or tea. I found it fun, in a gross way, to roll the dough into a narrow rod shape and stack them into little "piles".

Coffee Icing

Reviewed on Aug. 15, 2008 by ChocolatePanda
Used it on the puffs (at least the one that had coffee-flavored custard cream in them :) ) to make my wedding cake (croquembouche) - it took a while to make. Out of the three icings I made (chocolate, coffee and vanilla), it was the longest. But It was worth it!!
