Louisville, Kentucky

Louisville is known for baseball bats, beautiful magnolia trees, the Kentucky Derby, and for being the hometown of Muhammad Ali. Its name pays homage to French King Louis XVI, who assisted the colonists during the American Revolution. Louisville is also the birthplace of several original dishes. Henry Bain sauce, named after its inventor, the head waiter at Louisville's Pendennis Club, is a sweet, tangy, spicy concoction best served with wild game or beef tenderloin. The Hot Brown sandwich was created by the chef of Louisville’s Brown Hotel. It’s an open-faced sandwich topped with turkey, tomato, bacon, and cheese sauce, and then broiled until the cheese sauce turns golden brown. Besides fast horses, the Kentucky Derby is also renowned for popularizing the refreshing mint julep cocktail (made with Kentucky bourbon and fresh mint leaves).

About me:
I adore cooking! It comforts me, hey, even more then eating it. I can cut loose and make a pizza. I can tighten up, fly right and make chicken cordon bleu. I can just be lazy and make fetticini alfredo. I love being free to decide for myself. Probably my greatest influence was my grandmother. As she use to say "never trust a skinny cook". She was instumental in my experimenting with different sauces for main dishes.

Buffalo Cheesy Chicken Lasagna

Reviewed on Oct. 1, 2008 by 23DAISYS
This was really good, however, I made a few significant changes that I think really contributed to the recipe. I used fresh mushrooms instead of canned and added fresh parsley in the ricotta mixture. Instead of four cups of spaghetti sauce I used 2 cups mixed with 2 cups of alfredo sauce. I used 1/4 hot sauce to give it way more of that buffalo wing taste. I also sprinkled the blue cheese on top of all the ricotta layers as well as the top.

Dilly Chicken Breasts

Reviewed on Sep. 30, 2008 by LouisvilleHugger
I liked this recipe, it was simple and tasty. We didn't grill the chicken as suggested but I did use the lemon/dill idea for my marinade. Thanks for sharing, I'll be using this again.
