Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
Awesome recipe! My husband approves! ;-) Though I found that I had to add a bit more milk - the batter rose quickly - it thickened fast - so adding more milk will give you more time before you have to put it on the griddle.

Waffles I

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2008
I'm not sure it's fair to rate this as I changed/added(as usual). Anyways I doubled it. For 1/2 the white flour I used spelt flour 2 tbs. wheat germ and bran a pinch of cinnamon and olive oil instead of vegetable oil and instead of sugar used maple syrup. Soya instead of cow. Served with homemade peach sauce/chunks and blueberry syrup. Delish..

Coffeebar Chai

Reviewed: Sep. 6, 2008
I've made the recipe as written and it's very good. And, like others, I made it again, following Skidz7's suggestions. It was really good, although a little bitter. The bitterness was easily fixed with the addition of a little more vanilla. I will follow the same suggestions again, with a few changes: do NOT boil the teabags. Add extra bags for stronger tea or just accept that it might be weak, but I've noticed that boiling teabags results in more bitter tea. Also, I won't add the vanilla until the end so the flavour will be more pronounced. I think I prefer the Chai Tea Mix by Jo, but this might be a good one to let sit in the crock pot on a cold day. :) Thanks for sharing, Heather!

Daddy's Fried Corn and Onions

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2008
I loved this! I used around 1½ cups frozen corn (not thawed), around 1 TBS bacon grease, ½ a small onion, salt and pepper, and I added 2 medium-diced medium-sized potatoes (parboiled for around 7 minutes before adding). I fried the onion up in the grease until it started to brown, then added the potatoes for a couple minutes, then added the corn last. My daughter and I scarfed it, my husband ate it with minimal complaints (he has issues with corn, though). He said he'd eat it again, so it's a success! Thanks for sharing, Momof2Boys!

Taco Lasagna

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
We really enjoyed this lasagna. Even my 5 year old did not complain, which he usually does. We found it to be a bit too tangy, but that could be due to the salsa that I used. Overall, awesome with a side of sour cream:)

Joy's Prizewinning Trifle

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
This was absolutely delicious!!! I switched it up a bit. I omitted the pineapple completely and used fresh strawberries, raspberries and bananas in the centre layers. Made it for a family and friends dinner and it was a HUGE hit! thank you very much for sharing.. will definitely be making this again!

Autumn Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
This was the cheesecake that started it all. I baked this cheesecake about 5 years ago and when I got all the rave reviews, I continued baking and experimenting and now I'm a semi-professional baker...and I owe it all to this cake!!!

White Chocolate Raspberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
I used strawberries instead of raspberries and it turned out so well. I also topped it with a chocolate+shortening sauce which gave it an added crunch as well as chocolate. Since I often bake for friends weddings, I tried this one out at a small wedding and had rave reviews!

Tiramisu Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 2, 2008
I made the adjustments suggested in other reviews: 4Tbsp coffee liqueur in the crust as well as 4 tbsp liqueur + 4 tbsp espresso in the cheese mixture. I topped the cake with chocolate ganache and coated the sides with whip cream and stuck ladyfingers around the sides. While it was a good cake, I actually found the coffee flavor too strong so I think I'll try the original recipe next time.

Nova Scotia Blueberry Cream Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2008
Well that was different! Not sure what went wrong but the top was sure runny. I baked at 360 instead and cooked about 10 minutes longer. Also used low fat sourcream(Maybe that was the problem?) The idea is good and I would have to try again.... Okay, Okay.....sooo I needed to let it cool!! Changed from a 3* to 5*. Taste as good as pictute looks. I sprinkled top with cinnamon before putting in the oven.
